With experience in a variety of styles, Mitch Brady is an active freelance musician in the New England area, having performed as guest principal tubist with Maine’s Portland Symphony Orchestra, as well as appearing with the Rodney Marsalis Philadelphia Big Brass, Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, Boston Chamber Symphony, Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra, New England Brass Band, and Hot Tamale Brass Band. Brady currently serves as the principal tuba of the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra under the direction of Benjamin Zander.
Mitch Brady is an avid chamber musician and soloist. Since arriving in Boston, Brady has performed as soloist with the Boston Pops Orchestra and the Boston University Chamber Orchestra. Brady has also performed as a finalist with his brass quintet in the Philip Jones International Brass Ensemble Competition in the United Kingdom and recently saw success as a winner of the Boston University Soloists’ Competition in 2024 and second place winner at the Leonard Falcone International Tuba-Euphonium Competition in 2023.
Mitch Brady is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in tuba performance from Boston University. After spending a semester abroad at the Royal College of Music where he studied with Pete Smith (Philharmonia Orchestra) Brady moved back to Boston, where he resumed his studies with Dr. Eric Goode and Mike W. Roylance, principal tuba of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops Orchestra.
